Slew is my favorite horsie, although I picked Run, Dusty, Run to win it all in 77 (I was 9 and liked the "way he looked" and thought he had a cool name, which, to a nine year old boy, are the two most important things of course...so please gimmie a break) I always liked the fact that Slew looked almost bored when he ran .....as if it was all so easy. Andrew Beyer admitted he was wrong about Slew, on a horse racing panel on Larry King's Mutual Radio show. King and the other panelists burst into mock applause. In '78, Jimmy the Greek Snyder was sucking up to Affirmed and Laz Barrera. He picked Affirmed both times over Slew.
