sublime! this is enjoyment thru magic senses... think of a ribbon in the sky, a rose-tinted hilltop, melted colorful glass, feeling up there undisturbed by clouds, looking down a fresh green meadow, hope afloat: visions of a single road through the desert, the wonder of a moth on your windowsill... Weissenberg *bow my head in respect*

If "many think Rachmaniov is too intense" I suggest you find a new set of friends, (Ha. Ha.) I have some friends I never discuss music with unless it's rock or punk or techno-pop. They just don't get it.

I have seen many pianists working on the most horrible instruments. What is amazing is that an artist can womehow bring out the best in (almost) any old box. Jazz musicians are expert at this, and don't think that because they are "just playing jazz" they are not demanding. Jazz is a great art form, improvising being the soul of performing.

I had the great good fortune to see Alexis Weissenberg perform. His manly and dignified presence was a joy to behold. Everthing that makes music so lovely and majestic was demonstrated by his demeanor. A truly great artist. Musicians like Weissenberg allow the transcendence of body and mind into the ultimate experience of his art.

Many think Rachmaniov is too intense to enjoy by unaccustomed ears. This beautiful performance is proof that his music can reach everyone when played correctly. Simply magnificent.

love this interpretation!! i think he's a true artist whose sole purpose is to create beauiful music, not to show off his virtuosity. we need more of these true musicians. thanks for posting this.
