way to tell him, TNorth. I'm not sure why some people are so afreaid of labels. there's a reason they exist.

I didn't get the feeling that Az was putting himself on an elitist level. But, so what if he was? It may still be true that others will call him an atheist if he lacks a belief in a god. But he doesn't not feel compelled to label himself that. Frankly, I've always thought that the word atheist is meaningless/relative to the myriad definitions of deities that have existed.

*doesn't not* strike the double negative (sorry)

his argument though does place himself on a higher ground then others and demands that we conform to his new definition or face ridicule and scorn, word games such as the one he is playing is a form of intellectual dishonesty

The word games that atheists play are equally dishonest. Deliberately reading scriptures as stupidity instead of trying to find intended meaning (1 example). If I knew you better, I bet I could label you a devotee of some deity simply by your daily actions. There is nothing that a human can do that hasn't been considered religious in some way. Actions are devotions to the various deities.

now you are guilty of the same generalizations that Az is, your argument is itself a strawman at best

Why? I often hear people ask theists to show evidence of gods. But I have yet to see evidence of atheism. Yet, people insist that they are atheists. Classically speaking, gods exists BECAUSE they are believed-in. The lack of devotion is said to have caused the downfall of bothe Egypt and Rome. I'm sure you believe the earth exists and it is necessary for your life. Is it delusion to believe in it?

now you are falling into a logical fallacy by demanding proof of a negative. the analogy that you are drawing falls apart when applied to the scientific method of drawing conclusions based upon observation. with atheism there is nothing to prove since we make no claim, the existence of the earth is observed every single day.

My videos address one use of the word "atheist". I've not made it up, I'm only pointing it out. That use regards a role that I have played and that I see others playing (I used the self-inclusive 'we' wherever it applied, and thus did not exclude myself). I hate that role. Complain that I'm grouping people together all you want, but the fact is I'm speaking to individuals as individuals and the complaint isn't valid.

I couldn't have been less ambiguous or clear in my last video, and if people continue to misunderstand and my pointing it out to them makes me elitist, so be it. If it was you that was being mistaken, you'd do the same. If you want, let me know when you'll be in stickam next and we'll chat.

this video does not address agnostic vs. atheist debates, but the redefining of the term atheist. this is the second time you have stated your fear to make that leap (that I have seen), if there was a god then he/she/it would be just as mad that you are not expressing faith and are doubting enough to be called agnostic

I'm not asking you to prove that there is not a god. I'm asking for evidence that you are an atheist.

you are specifically looking for evidence that I personally do not believe in god/gods? watch my videos.

You are not understanding my point. It is not demonstrable. Something may be true and not demonstrable at the same time. The gods that you ask for evidence of are real because they are believed-in and have affected people positively as well as negatively. See King Heathen's recent string of vids about Christians dying for a lie. Perhaps you are lying about being an atheist. (?)
