AmandaDevik ::: Favorites Basiclly, Ron Paul wants to take away the confusion caused by tyhe 16th ammendment. Before it was passed, our country worked successfully without the income tax. And before the 16th ammendment, the income tax we have today would be considered unconstitutional. At the time the private banks that run our country pushed for this, to gain more money. And the money from income taxes are used for things like government payroll (which is way too much) and the military/deficit; it's not divied up among the states. AmandaDevik ::: Favorites A direct tax is a tax on the payer by reason of ownership. Article 1 section 9 of the Constitution states that the tax money is to be apportioned among the states on the basis of population. Indirect taxes can be avoided somewhat, seeing as they are attributed to the consumption of goods/services.
