Description:

This is a record of how John Sweeney a BBC reporter was provoked into aggression by Tommy Davis the leader of Scientology. All clips are from BBC Panorama "Scientology and Me" ------------------------------------- Also I saw the Scientology clip of what supposedly happened. Sadly I could not upload that too seeing as I would go past the 10 minute limit. I will upload it as soon as this is uploaded. ADDED: I acknowledge a few spelling errors, I apologize I was slightly in a rush due to the amount of videos showing only John Sweeney shouting.

But they do hurt people, and eventually a group like this starts using violence on a larger scale, bombing psychiatric hospitals what have you.

BBC is a master of propaganda. This is a poor example of both debate and reporting. I say the Scientologists make a great point. My old highshool debate team would rip the 'reporter's" argument in two pieces in about 10 minutes. Talk about madmen and Englishmen I think we are seeing BOTH.

Dearest sheepmeat - while I would concede that the BBC may be biased culturally by being staffed overwhelmingly by white, liberal, middle-class left-leaning journalsts (and fixing Blue Peter phone-ins - the shame!), to call it a 'master of propaganda' is patently ridiculous.

(continued from below) Their crass exploitation of the Holocaust, and the millions who were murdered, was obviously the straw that broke the camel's back for Sweeney. It probably didn't help that the scientologists were clearly a fascistic organisation relying on intimidation and the cult of personality who liked to demonise people they saw as 'deviants' to further their cause. Sound familiar?

(continued from below) The reason that it is a poor example of debate is that the creepy shortarse Tom Cruise wannabe in the film refuses to enter into a rational discussion about the reasonable concerns raised by the reporter. The phrase you misquote refers to mad dogs and Englishmen, and their shared habit of going out into the midday sun.

It was written by Noel Coward, an Englishman, and demonstrates the British knack for not not taking oneself too seriously.
